"I love fresh ideas about everything". Adriana Siso founded her contemporary industrial design store in 2002 in Santa Fe, NM. With a background in Fine Arts, Adriana has been an innovator, bringing to the Santa Fe area, original and unique industrial design products by some of the most creative design firms in the world.

The first design partners Molecule worked with were Vitra Design Museum, Moooi, Cherner Chair, and other well-known national and international brands. Today it partners with other world-class manufacturers like Vondom, Loll Designs and Moroso.

Molecule operated out of a recycled and renovated shipping container building, the first of its kind in Santa Fe. Currently Molecule is available through the online store and by appointment.

Sustainability is an important area of interest and ongoing exploration for Molecule, which offers product lines with a focus on conservation and ecological stewardship. A recent alliance with the Vertical Aeroponic Growing System – Tower Garden, promises to offer a lot of inspiration in the growing field of aeroponics as the future of agriculture, industrial design at its best.

After visiting the Salone del Mobile, Molecule also had a chance to visit Milano’s energetic design areas outside the Fiera.  Events connected to Salone del Mobile, called – FuoriSalone abound. Design schools, small shops, and other venues open their doors and offer exhibits. Wherever you walk, design breathes the freshness of inspiration and new ideas. By experiencing FuoriSalone, I was able to get a sense of the general phenomenon that is design week in Milan, amazing experience! Milan has around 13 design districts, and is one of the international capitals of industrial and modern design, and is regarded as the world’s most influential city in such fields.

Walking around Milan

I was lucky to find Moooi, one of the brands we’ve worked with since the beginning of Molecule in 2003. Their space was located in an earlier design area, a sort of cool Milanese Soho. Moooi presented some of the new lamps and other prototypes which will be in production soon. It was a treat to see the products I know so well, as well as so many new ones. I met with Jan-Wilem Poels, who is our contact for Moooi and the actual liaison for all things Moooi in USA, and it was so great to get from him all the amazing things Moooi has been up to. The general installation, room after room, was a feast to the senses.

Moooi started in 2001, and has become the most important contemporary design firm in Holland. Its co-founder and artistic director, Marcel Wanders is a product and interior designer who drew international recognition for his Knotted Chair produced by Droog Design in 1996. He designs for leading international companies such as Flos, Alessi, Puma, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, MAC Cosmetics, Cappellini, B&B Italia, Moroso and Target. Marcel exhibits widely and his work is included in such significant museum collections as MoMA New York, The Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, and the V&A Museum, London. Wanders has further published numerous books and is extensively profiled in the global media, appearing in such publications as the New York Times, Domus, The Financial Times and Wallpaper Magazine.

For more than ten years Moooi has inspired and seduced the world with sparkling and innovative designs. The name is taken  after the native Dutch word for beautiful – the third ‘o’ in the brand name stands for an extra value in terms of beauty & uniqueness. The collection’s style is playful, imaginative, and daring.

Eclectic and always on the edge of commercial reality and cultural interest, Moooi mixes the old and the new, the historic tradition and influence from the vernacular Dutch culture and an edgy contemporary imaginative expression. The result is magic and fun.
