"I love fresh ideas about everything". Adriana Siso founded her contemporary industrial design store in 2002 in Santa Fe, NM. With a background in Fine Arts, Adriana has been an innovator, bringing to the Santa Fe area, original and unique industrial design products by some of the most creative design firms in the world.

The first design partners Molecule worked with were Vitra Design Museum, Moooi, Cherner Chair, and other well-known national and international brands. Today it partners with other world-class manufacturers like Vondom, Loll Designs and Moroso.

Molecule operated out of a recycled and renovated shipping container building, the first of its kind in Santa Fe. Currently Molecule is available through the online store and by appointment.

Sustainability is an important area of interest and ongoing exploration for Molecule, which offers product lines with a focus on conservation and ecological stewardship. A recent alliance with the Vertical Aeroponic Growing System – Tower Garden, promises to offer a lot of inspiration in the growing field of aeroponics as the future of agriculture, industrial design at its best.

It is the time of the year to indulge in the beautiful weather and outdoor culture the Southwest has to offer. Spending time with friends at home or glam-camping; enjoying opera season and the many things that New Mexico has to offer.

Take a look at some furniture ideas that will make your outdoor living comfortable and great looking. Molecule offers an exciting collection of seasonal outdoor living products. Some of them, are refreshing options to be used indoor as well. If different and creative is your preference, give us a ring and we will be happy to help with your project.

The Rapson Rocker, by Loll-outdoor-molecule design
The Rapson Rocker, by Loll

I think all of us can agree that Mid-Century design has become one of the biggest influences in today’s modern world. From Mad Men to HGTV, Mid-Century aesthetic is an everyday occurrence. Today we are still enjoying breakfast at our Saarinen Tulip Table, taking naps in our Eames Lounger, and having panic attacks when we find a vintage Bertoia on craigslist. (Loll Designs)

Loll Designs was inspired by these mid century modern furniture pieces.  In 2003 founders Greg, Dave, and Tony had an idea…why not have the same luxury, design, and quality brought outdoors? And why not go a step further and create these pieces to be eco-friendly lounge chairs made for future generations to enjoy?

Eight years later Loll took it a step further and joined forces with one of the great names of Mid-Century Design – well-known architect and furniture designer, Ralph Rapson. Loll CEO Greg Benson and Ralph Rapson’s son Toby met to rethink his father’s notable rocking chair as an eco-friendly outdoor rocking chair using recycled materials. Soon The Rapson Rocker was born as well as other pieces to form a collection.

Add The Rapson Rocker to your mid-century collection, this time, a great icon to your outdoor living area.

Rest Collection, by Vondom-molecule design
Rest Collection, by Vondom

Hanging out and lounging wouldn’t be complete if REST by Vondom was missing. Following Vondom’s indoor & outdoor philosophy: life must be enjoyed in the open air without sacrificing comfort or elegance, as well as their motto: affordable luxury, makes Vondom a great choice.

Inspired by ORIGAMI, the Japanese art based on folding paper in order to get different forms, and the motto of “Less is more” The whole is composed of an armchair, sofa, and table, with a modular structure which allows you to freely adapt them to your individual needs in any space. The manufacturing process used is rotational moulding, which is a technical process that guarantees the maximum quality of the final product by taking care of even the smallest details. REST reflects the spirit of its creators, who are always loyal to elegance, beauty and exclusiveness, as well as the complete adjustment to customers. From well-defined, geometrical, yet elegant and light shapes, a new collection is born that provides maximum comfort for its users and fits perfectly in with innovative architecture, thanks to its contemporary design, a characteristic principle from the A-cero studio. Jellies, by Kartell-molecule design
Jellies, by Kartell

Tailgating at the Santa Fe Opera? Take it up a notch, with Jellies from Kartell. Designed by Patricia Urquiola, Jellies is a comprehensive line of plates, trays, glasses, bowls and carafes made from colourful and transparent shater-proof plastic. The line’s individuality is down to the fact that each model presents a different organic pattern that has clearly been inspired by nature, harking back to the moulds that were once used for making jellies. This design highlights temporality, and therefore also variety, from smallest to largest. The faint, delicate and accessible transparent colours are suitable for furnishing any kind of table: creative and original, or more classic and monochrome. The overlapping sections and colourful juxtapositions create an imaginative yet discreet ensemble that is both creative and sophisticated.

Every summer for more than 60 years, opera lovers have flocked to the Santa Fe area to enjoy some of the most beautiful scenery, music and events available.

Opening night tailgating at the Santa Fe Opera takes parking lot dining to a new level. You’ll see anything from dinner a deux in the bed of a pickup truck to elaborate meals that would rival a formal dinner at Downton Abby. Dress runs the gamut from black tie and gowns or cocktail dresses, to jeans and sometimes elaborate costumes. There’s no shortage of imagination in this crowd. (Santa Fe Travelers)
