Molecule @ the 2017 Salone del Mobile Milan – Fiera Fairgrounds

The Salone del Mobile, the most important industrial design event in the world, is housed in the Rho Fiera Fairgrounds, which was designed by Studio Fuksas, Massimiliano Fuksas. .. I walked it 5 days straight, back and forth, it seemed I was walking all day! At the East side, there is a metro station, which made it easy to reach, as  I lodged far from it. It was exiting to meet brands that I partner with and see new ones. Overall, it was quite an experience! Taking it all in, the first time can be intense. Also,  the 20 Year Celebration of the Salone Satellite was taking place. This event was founded to showcase the work of young designers globally, just coming out of design school. It is annually curated by Marva Griffin.

Salone del Mobile

The structure is unbelievably beautiful. In an effort to attract large-scale world-class conventions and exhibitions, the city of Milan embarked on an ambitious plan to build a $700 million trade show complex. Massimiliano Fuksas was engaged to bring to life a new design that would house exhibition halls, auditoriums, conference rooms, restaurants and cafes, meeting halls, and office spaces for the Fiera administration.

One of the stunning sections at the Salone del Mobile this year was Lighting. Some of the installations and booths were great, like Foscarini, and Arturo Alvarez. There was a ton to see.

About Adriana Siso

Adriana Siso launched Molecule Design in September 2010, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Molecule is the extension of a previous furniture design store that was founded in 2003 as an expansion on a career in fine art, which she pursued for more than 30 years. She brings her talents and uncompromising quest for practical and original products to the world of home furnishings and space design. Molecule carries contemporary industrial designer products that are approachable, remarkable, cutting edge, made to last, life enhancing, sometimes irreverent, and timeless. Later in 2006, Adriana started the process of conceiving the new showroom space that would house the store. Partly sustainable, the structure was built out of 11 recycled 40′ cargo containers. Completed in December 2010, it became the first cargo container building in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Always an explorer, Adriana loves to engage in the realms of discovery and innovation. InContext/Molecule Design's Magazine, launched in December 2011, is the venue where she collects the great stories of creative thinkers, who in our current state of affairs, sometimes under great pressures and working outside the realm of imposed standards, achieve the impossible. It has been known that in times of great crisis, design flourishes. It is Molecule's mission to show this light.
